My FAVORITE recipe for this time of year - Pumpkin oatmeal white chocolate chip craisin cookies! We usually use craisin originals instead of the cherry kind but both are amazing! Source and recipe

Party dessert ideas/inspiration: Box mix goes chic!

I am sitting here looking at POUNDS of zucchini from the garden and dreeammmmming of zucchini bread and too tired to make some! and talking to a bloggy bff, Sandy from Firefly Confections (check out her sweet shop - she is FANTASTIC! - here) about how to "cheat" at an event when you just run out of time! (hello!?! we are ALL busy women here!!!)... so here are a few ways to FROST your box mixes that will impress even the biggest bakers in your family!

Have brownies ever looked this good?!? Just buy a few boxes of brownie mix - top some with nuts, some with powder sugar, some plain... cut, stack pretty - and tada! Source and recipe (if you don't want to cheat ;o)

Another trick from brownies...use doilies, stencils, cutouts, lace, etc and sift powdered sugar over to create beautiful shapes that will wow your guests... no one will ever guess they were made from a box mix! Source

Whip up some lemon meringue (from mix!) and serve up with a few cookies (from premade dough!) - just use a small circle cookie cutter to "hang" from a spoon handle - so cute! Source and recipe (again, if you are feeling adventurous!)

Chocolate chip cookies never looked so inviting! Refrigerated dough into a fancy container, bake and serve with ice cream! Sign me up! Source and recipe (for non-cheaters!)

Use deeper ones for a larger servings - like serving up mousse.  Source

Doughnuts are all the rage this year! Serve up some fresh holes with a little dipping syrup and fancy metal toothpick on tapas dishes! (spoon dish found here, toothpicks can be found here,)

Get a little fancier and serve fresh fruit desserts on these silver appetizer spoons. (spoons can be found here) Source

Mini bites...Desserts ideas/inspiration

yummiest way to Frost your next event is with some fancy looking mini desserts! yum! Look here for older (but still fresh!) frosting tips for desserts

omg, hello?!? can you say genius? Little mini banana splits! Sliced banana, dipped in chocolate and sprinkles, topped with whipped cream and cherries! serve with a bowl of ice cream and you can count me in! Source

Another great dipped in chocolate and add sprinkle idea... cut up pound cake on a lollipop stick! Great way to take a store bought item and dress it up and take all the credit (genius Leland!) Source

swoon....oreo heaven! I love all the cupcakes on a stick lately! Oreo, topped with mini cupcake, topped with a mini orea - glass of milk please!!! (p.s. cover styrofoam or floral foam and stick them in to serve) Source

Shows how simple can look incredible! Mini milkshake, piece of brownie served on an appetizer plate with a sprig of mint and bright red straw - ordinary displayed extraordinary! Source

Party Dessert Ideas!

First, don't forget to enter this week's contest!!!

Since I may or may not have just shoved a chocolate doughnut down my throat after dunking in milk... I figured I would continue the indulgence and post some chocolate dessert ideas for any party! (check out past dessert ideas, too!)

How fantastic do these banana bites look!?! Great way to offer a variety of options! Dip slices of bananas in chocolate and then get creative! Crushed oreos, nuts, coconut, etc.  yum! Source

Why not go with a conversation piece!?! I LOVE sweet and salty together - so why not this chocolate cupcake with a chocolate covered potato chip?!? The chips would look beautiful just by themselves! Source

I heart these! What a great take on rice crispy pops! She put the chocolate in the middle like a sandwich instead of dipping and how fantastic are the little flags on the popsicle sticks?!? Source

How adorable are these little chocolate covered in chocolate in individual little cardboard covers?!? I so want to make a thousand of these! They would be great for parties, but also as a hostess gift! Source

Don't forget how pieces of chocolate added to a dessert can take it from simple to fabulous! Just make a design on wax paper, put in freezer - and va-la! Try printing out a shape on the computer and putting wax paper over and just trace - so easy! Source

Desserts!

I love showing kid's stuff, but we grownups need some great parties too! I will pepper them in here and there for us! ...well, I couldn't eat for 27 hours because of a medical procedure this morning - and all I was craving was chocolate cake - my total weakness - I am not a big icing fan, but LOVE chocolate cake! So in honor of what I couldn't have... here are some fantastic desserts for your next party - I am focusing on presentation, can't vouch for taste! But I always say presentation is everything!

Did you just do the same thing I did when I saw these [gasp!]!?!? Hello!?! I am not sure if I have ever seen a more beautiful dessert! These are individual chocolate-espresso charlottes - they may not be all chocolate, but I'll forgive them ;o)  Source and recipe

These are another omg moment - edible spoons with a dab of peanut butter mousse! How good would dessert be if you could eat the spoon too!?! (I'm sounding like a big 'ol pig lol!) I am SO making these - just waiting for the form to arrive! Source .... p.s. I bought my spoon template here

I found these in some book and didn't write down the book! UGH! sorry... mini brownies with toasted marshmallow and drizzled caramel sauce YUM! I just love the presentation with the silver picks.  If you don't have a kitchen torch (first, get one) you can put them under the broiler for a min.

Am I making ya'll hungry yet?!? These are mini rootbeer floats! The glasses are so dang cool! And if you are only having a mini one, you can have one of each of the above too ;o)  Source

Desserts! YUM!

I know it's only 7:30am here, but I am feeling a sweet tooth day coming on! Dreaming of chocolate cake and tiramisu and brownies and donuts and truffles and.... Desserts! YUM! ...must stay strong! Here are some fancy desserts for your next party (or self-destructive binging lol)....

MMMM....cake kabobs! I love this idea - take a few different flavored and colored cakes, slice up to different thicknesses and put on a kabob stick - SO inexpensive but what an impact!  I think it would be fun to serve these with a few bowls of whipped icing and toppings... or slather these up with icing and roll in nuts or jimmies or whatever, but whatever you do... make sure you use tons of chocolate cake ;o)  Source

Simple, simple... put two marshmallows on a stick, dip in chocolate, add sprinkles and ta-done! These are great for any dessert tablescape because you can dye the chocolate (never use water based ones! it will seize your chocolate) and coordinating sprinkles depending on your party colors.  From my idol of dessert-scapes Amy Atlas

OMG, are you sitting down? Have cholesterol lowering meds and a fitness trainer? ok... then you have to try these... I am on the East Coast and do not (thank goodness in a way) have these Xooro Churro stores around, but why not try these at home? I know my local Walmart carries a pretty tasty churro box mix.  These churros are dipped in all kinds of different things and filled with cream - I think I am in heaven! Source of pic

Everyone loves a s'more! This s'more buffet is a way to bring the tasty picnic treat into any elegant, sophisticated party - even a wedding!  I love how they have the rocks and the gel candles set up - tons of fun! Source
