  5. We love Frost Me!! I have so many favorite "go to' party items but I always start with theme searching and then the printables to tie the theme together from conception (invitation) to completion (favor bags). Thank yo for the chance to win these books and for being a great inspiration! I'm going to repost for my readers too. Julie @ kinser event company

  6. I like to decorate up! The ceiling is one of my favorite places to decorate for a holiday or party. It makes a huge impact and everyone thinks you went all out, but it really only takes some fishing line and a few minutes. I've hung a kite from the ceiling for a spring party, several silver stars for a twinkle, twinkle, little star themed baby shower, etc. There are tons of options.

  10. I use to save all of the "Party Guides" from my InStyle magazines in high school and college. I have them in binders and labeled so I can find last minute drink ideas, etc for parties. Ever since last Halloween when my in laws bought me a huge, great over the top cupcake holder- I now plan everything around cupcakes for it and decorating it as well! :) I am slightly obsessed with all things cupcake at the moment! My mind is so on Halloween!!!

  13. Go to party item? I use filo dough to create small cups in a mini muffin tin (or you can buy them already made-real pricey that way though) and add a spoon of mashed potatoes, a green onion slice or two, a bite of bacon, and some cheese. Serve with sour cream with ranch powder blended in and TADA! OH sooooo yummy! Once I had a mashed potato bar with the girls...served in martini glasses and a bar of toppings to choose from- BIG HIT!!!

I make custom decorated cookies professionally, but my fall back recipe (especially when I'm don't have a lot of time) is chocolate caramel pretzel rods:
Dip pretzel rod in melted caramel (like for apples) cool, dip again in melted chocolate (wilton candy melts) cover with sprinkles to match the party theme, cool until chocolate hardens, and enjoy!

  34. A home made pinata is a must for any kid's birthday party (and those seem to be the only parties I do)! It gets the kid involved in the party prep. and excited about the special day. Plus, it's a fun and messy craft that gets my creative juices flowing. It's also tons of fun to shop for goodies to stuff it with. Then, of course, the kids at the party LOVE the excitement of it! One last thing. If you do a pull-string pinata, the main shape is still in tact and can be used as a decoration or it can be used again at another party! Enought about my obsession with pinatas...thanks for maintaining this wonderful, inspirational blog!!

  86. Well this is not an actual "go to" party theme but the best birthday party that I ever had. When my oldest daughter turned 7, I had a backwards birthday party. First, I typed the invitations backwards where her friends had to put it in a mirror to read. They were encouraged to dress backwards, which they did. The balloons were hanging upside down as all of the decorations were. We had games like pin the donkey on the tail. We ate cake and ice cream before having hamburger and hot dogs. It was one of those parties that people still talk about.

  91. My favorite go to place is definitely the computer-my iternet has been down at the house for two days and I never realized how MUCH i used it and how essential it is. I love throwing parties and my numbe one go to is southernliving.com I love a great party but what is a great party if the food is yuck-so I always start with what I am going to plan for the menu-if the food is not good-people leave hungry and not filled. My number one recipe that is always a MAJOR HIT at the party and is a staple of mine is Chicken Wing Dip. The recipe follows:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts boiled and shredded, 1 (8 ounce) cream cheese, softened, 1 (10-12 ounce) bottle of Frank's Red Hot Sauce 9makesure to get the original kind), 1 (12 ounce bottle) Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, 1 bag mexican blend cheese. Boil your chicke and shredd place on bottom of 9 x 13 pan, Pour the entire bottle of Frank's red hot on top of the shredded chicken evenly, mix the cream cheese and ranch dressing together and place on top of the red hot sauce and then cover with the bag of cheese as evenly as possible. Place in oven @ 350 for twenty minutes and serve with totitos. It is delicious. My email is jenniferlmiles@hotmail.com
