Owl party ideas and inspiration

I am trying to keep my head in the party scene, but these have been some of the most painful days of my life - my hip is so bad, walking, sitting or laying (so everything) causes me to cry out in pain. I am getting excited about the little guy's arrival, but 6 weeks feels like forever right now! Pray that my visit to the acupuncturist tomorrow brings some relief.

Meanwhile... I am getting excited about my baby shower (hosted by my stepmom - how nice!) coming next week! Word has it there will be lots of owls! (the nursery theme is modern woodland). So to focus on the positive, let's peep some inspiration for owls!

I love straw decor! It's a little touch that goes a long way! These owl straw guys are even have a place to put a name to keep track of glasses! Source and tutorial

For favors, you could make these fun owls using standard pillow boxes! Source and tutorial

If you are feeling crafty advanced... these little guys will surely steal the show! I could just hug them! Source

If fondant scares you... maybe try your hand at these clay owl?! It would be a fun painting activity too! Source and tutorial

With Fall rolling back in, thought a Woodland/Owl theme party would be fun!  Don't forget older, but still fresh!, Frosting for a woodland/owl party here (link)

How fun is this night sky backdrop?! Super clever! Some branches let you perch a few owls to set the scene.... Source

If you don't want to do a night sky... a fresh, light forest feel with lots of greenery, wood and other natural elements.  Source

For treats, you can do anything that mimics the forest... these mushroom treats would be perfect! Perhaps slices of cheesecake topped with a cookie?  Source
And I'll leave you the most clever use of royal icing... owl faces!!! Source and tutorial

200th post! Woodland Party Theme (Part 2)

First - woohoo! 200th post on Frost Me! and our Frosted Family is over 900 and counting! I love that you all enjoy Frosting as much as I do!

...As requested - more woodland party ideas! (part 1)

This party was over-the-top cute! The tablescape is full of moss, flowers, mushrooms and wood making quite the elegant touch to a kid's theme! And simple white letters of the bday girl make an excellent addition.  You can pick them up cheap at any craft store! Source

How about some cute felt owls for decoration or let the kids each make one! Would be cute for Harry Potter too! Source and tutorial

Every woodland theme needs mushrooms! (older post on mushrooms) These are from a Smurf themed party! (LOVE the smurfs!) Great for Mario Brothers, Alice in Wonderland, as well! Source and tutorial

Twig pencils would be an adorable party favor! I love the little leaf favor tag - great touch! Source

Make mushroom cookies! Cookies, cocoa and a bottle is all it takes to have all the kids thinking they are real mushrooms! I think these would be adorable at a pizza making party too! (trying to think of other toppings to make as cookies!)  Source

I am madly crushing on these tree cupcake toppers! (well, the bird/tree design they did was my mostest - yes I said mostest - favorite design this year in the party world!) Source

p.s. and yes Melissa, I did post more cupcakes - I'm a pusher! heehee

How about doing toadstool cupcakes! I love how they used earthy elements around the cupcakes! Don't be shy to serve them on multiple different platters - tie them together by using like elements around! Source and party found via http://www.partystart.me/

I am digging on these branch magnetic letters! I think these would be fun to use on the fridge or as a favor with each kid's initial.  Source and tutorial

Why not use something like this woodland ballerina bow holder to hold tulle favor bags or small owls as favors - when the guests leave, your daughter will have something fantastic for her room! Source

I so heart these felt owl toppers! How dang cute are they!?!  A great decoration and a take home favor, as well! Source found via AmyAtlas

What about using some plush animals around with some tree trunk to give the party a really woodsy feel! Source

Ending on a sweet note from one of my FAV cookie ladies... how dang cute is he!?!  I need to lay off the caffeine and see if it can steady my hands enough to try! lol  Source

Garden invite that is so simple but so dang adorable! I think this would work for both kids and adult parties.  Source

You could modify this with any flower or topper - just a simple glue the end to a toothpick and you have instant whimsy even on your appetizer trays! Source

These are too adorable - chocolate cupcakes baked in terracotta pots and finished with a mint sprig.  Use chocolate rocks - our local Super Walmart sells them.  Source, directions and recipe

A veggie cake I made and took to work for a vegetarian coworkers bday.  Just in a cake carrier - no fancy presentation at work ;o)  Made multi-tone chocolate veggies in Williams - Sonoma veggie cake pan.  I used petal dust to give the veggies some more dimension.
