Zoo/Safari Party Ideas and Inspiration

Ok, gonna take a break from Winter! It's way too warm out! So since we got our quarterly zoo magazine today (yes, we are zoo members!)... I thought why not a zoo theme?

Don't forget about older, but still fresh!, Frosting for a zoo/safari theme here (link)

A fun way to approach the theme would be to use black silhouettes of the animals and pops of color in the rest of your decorations.  Source

It would be fun to setup little animal "stations" with inexpensive zoo animals and either real or fake grass (depending on your ambition and time ;o)  Source

For the favor bags, use animal print ribbons and animal cutouts to decorate simple brown bags! Source

For desserts, orange chocolate covered marshmallows become "tiger tails"! Source and tutorial

Zoo/Safari party theme

I took off yesterday to do a family day at the zoo! Philadelphia Zoo (1st zoo in America!) is only about an hour away so we headed up and spent the day there - it was a beautiful day and loads of fun!

...so in the honor of our family day... here's some inspiration for a zoo/safari themed party or better yet... a party at the zoo! And don't forget about this (link) older, but still fresh!, Frosting for a zoo theme.

Super cute zoo theme setup! Love the paper plate animals on the front! Source

Use stuffed animals and natural habitat items like grasses, sand, water, etc to set a fun an exciting table for the kids! Source

Use fun signs you would find at the zoo around the space like this one! Source

One of Douglas's fav exhibits was the snakes! Why not create these fun cardboard snakes and have the kids decorate as an art activity?! Source and tutorial

Safari/Zoo party theme ideas/inspiration

It's raining INSANELY here this evening! It was a long and scary ride home from work (I work about an hour away now :o(  I do love sitting and listening to the rain... just not driving in it!...

... Today's inspiration is for a Safari/Zoo themed party! Don't forget about older, but still fresh!, Frosting for a Safari/Zoo party here.

Use a bamboo backdrop - pick up at your hardware store usually under 25 bucks! Source

How fun are these drinks?! Little paper animals on the straws, burlap around the bottles and the cutest wooden name tags! LOVE! Source

These wild grass (green coconut topped cake pops!) would be great for this party or a wagon, golf, soccer, etc party! Source

Use white chocolate oreos, add zebra stripes, thin black ribbons on lolli sticks (here) and lay over glasses! Source

Pastel Safari - Baby Shower Theme

I love a great zoo or safari theme (me and my fiance' have a zoo pass even ;o) so why not switch it up and go pastel and use it as a baby shower or 1st birthday theme?

I thought this would be the perfect invite to get the ball rolling! Source

These little favor bags personalized with the birth date and name would be so sweet! Source

Elephants look familiar? They were in my Ikea shopping Sat post! She attached them on top of clear favor boxes and filled with animal crackers... how cute do they look!?!  Source found via partyperfectblog

You could give out little baby elephant soaps as favors or stash them in the favor bags above! Put a pile in a basket in the bathroom at the party to carry the theme throughout the party space! Source

A diaper, washcloth or blanket "cake" is always a great centerpiece to the party! Source

Why not get a matching brag book, or guest book that guests can write sweet messages to the new baby in.  Source

Ending on a sweet note, you could add animal faces to onesies and rattle cookies! Source

Giraffe Theme

I love Safari or Zoo themes! Today I'll focus just on Giraffes, though... you could do a cute baby giraffe theme or add them to your idea board for a zoo or safari theme - would be great for boys or girls!

Sources

Giraffe Cozi - great way to accessorize! Isn't the corset just too adorable!?!
Giraffe Cupcake Topper - Gumpaste/Fondant isn't the best tasting thing - so why not go with a flat topper that you can easily lift off and enjoy the cupcake underneath!
Giraffe Cupcake Wrapper - wrappers are so in right now! This looks amazing with a chocolate cupcake!
Giraffe Ribbon - use to carry your theme throughout - edge a white table cloth, add to placemats, signs, favor boxes - anything!
Giraffe Drink Holder - how adorable is this!?! Great favor for the little ones!
Giraffe Cupcake - This is some skill.. but how cute!!?!?
Giraffe Plush - inexpensive enough to use as favors or decorations
Giraffe Party Hat - So fabulous! I love all the extra details!

Safari/Zoo

I am so in love with my animal kingdom Cricut cartridge and have been eyeing up a few of these Safari/Zoo kid's party items to try - then I'll just need a kid and a party rofl! I can't wait to my bf son is here for the summer - he is going to be so sick of events so that I can show off my ideas!  These will be great for just a zoo trip, as well.   Just thought about my title - it's like animals - whether they are free to roam or caged in captivity - I'll stick with Safari/Zoo... sounds better and I don't need PETA to friend me on facebook ;o)

I thought these were just adorable - what a great way to dress up bags of animal crackers! Talk about a cheap favor! These would be great just to keep stashed in the car or pack for a zoo trip! You could personalize them with children's names or the event, etc.  And don't stop there, think of other treats that you could fancy-up the same way!  Source  Creator:  Heather Binnie

In a similar feel, these bookmarks would be a little extra something special to give with a book gift - especially if it were an animal themed book or even a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.  You could even drop these in a favor bag. OH! you know what... make these in a bigger scale, cut a hole in the middle and you have an instant door hanger - that could be fun to put on the doors at the house during the party - I'll need to think about some cute sayings instead of "restroom" and "patio"... Source

I saw these chalkboard animal cutouts and thought, these would be so easy to do! If you put some temporary adhesive on the back you could put them up just for the party.  Another idea would be to go to the local craft store and get an artist's board (kinda like a big clipboard) and adhere them on there - you could take it on the road! If you just want to purchase, they are actually from Barnes & Noble (of all places) online - but it'll cost ya about 50 bucks for the collection... Source

Now, I am not usually a fan of plastic decorations for cakes... but I'll make an exception this time.  I really, really loved how the did the vegetation under each animal (that's why let it slide ;o)  Plus, for those that aren't crafty, you need options too!  Source

I consider myself a pretty good amateur cake decorator, but this cake even intimidates me! But I had to include it because I really fell in love.... Source
