Last Valetine's

I wasn't going to do another Valentine's post, but I just had too many fun things to share! This will be the Last Valentine's Post for this year (except a recap on Sunday).  Hopefully some of these ideas will add some "frosting" to your Valentine's Day plans!

See how I couldn't hold out till next year!?!  These edible placecards are so adorable! Fast, easy and SO not just for Valentine's day! And you know what would be cool!?! Put a secret message on the name card that is blocked by the holder, when they take it out to eat it they will be surprised by the find! These would also look (and taste!) extra amazing if you dipped the tops in chocolate and sprinkles (life doesn't a lot enough opportunity for sprinkles don't ya think!?!)  Source  found via  http://ediblecrafts.craftgossip.com

I think I am beginning to see that I am a kabob junkie! All food seems better cut into shapes, don't ya think?!? The colors of the watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew really look sweet together, but don't let that limit you! Bust out the pineapple, apples or any fruit in season! Here they put them on popsicle sticks, which with their rounded corners, makes for much safer eating!  Source

Super fast and simple (can you cut a circle!?!)... felt fortune cookies.  Since felt is just a few cents a sheet, you could make this project for under a dollar - and shoot, we all could use a cheap and easy project! Put this idea aside and just switch out the felt (or paper) to match your event.  Write some fun, sexy or thoughtful sayings inside - just be careful not to mix up which ones you give to who ;o)  Source and directions

Lastly, the most innovative and original idea I have seen this year for Valentine's Day - cherry tomato hearts! I don't know about you, but I hate trying to bite a whole cherry tomato any way! How fun would this be to have out on your Valentine's spread or even to garnish your special someone's plate (the latter you only have to make one! lol)  Source and tutorial  found via http://ediblecrafts.craftgossip.com

More Valentine's

First, thanks for all the blog love! Totally makes my day!!! ...On the home stretch of Valentine's day! Here are a few more Valentine's ideas that I hope will inspire you to do something a little extra special for your loved ones this weekend!  I know I am looking forward to quiet evening at home cooking a wonderful meal together with my fiance' - we figured it's not about what you spend, it's about time and effort - that's our MO!

Ok, file this one away for any occasion! Shaped sugar cubes! I so want to have a little girl right now and schedule a tea party lol! SUPER simple... sugar and food coloring (small dash of water)! Take a cookie cutter, place on wax paper - in a bowl mix little drop of food coloring to the sugar and sprinkle some water just enough to make it damp and mix.  Spoon into cookie cutter and push firm, tada!! These dessert kabobs would fit right at home at Valentine's Day or a picnic this summer! YUM! Dipped marshmallow, strawberry and a cake pop dipped in chocolate - fantastic.  Source unknown :o(

These cookies are too adorable - and EASY for those shy of cookie decorating! Just make a square cookie and ice - trim with another color and using a cake marker (find them at Walmart baking section or any craft store) - just write your loved one a special little note! What a striking combo of flavor - red hots and white chocolate fudge! Source and purchase

Hearts

Woohoo! We are called off of work today because of the road conditions! Almost makes the snow storm worth it! It's just a few days before Valentine's and if you are like me... I'm not ready yet ;o)  Here are a few Hearts inspired treats that would make someone feel extra special...

These are Oreos! Yep! Chocolate dipped Oreos with candy hearts on top - how yummy and simple! You can package them up for a surprisingly great treat! Source and tutorial

HELLO!?!?! How dang cute are these?!?! Valentine decoder hearts! You back crushed red candies in the middle and write something in blue on a piece of paper.  Then scribble all over it with reds and pinks and let the kids use the cookie to read the message! I am think of doing a scavenger hunt using these for my fiance'.  You could tuck this idea away for a spy party too and just bake the cookies in a different shape.  Source found via http://ediblecrafts.craftgossip.com

Something better than a cupcake would be a cupcake with a piece of brownie on top! Yum! You could even drizzle red, pink and white chocolate over the hearts to really make them pop.  And why stop at brownies? How about fudge!?! I don't think we get enough opportunity for fudge lol  Source found via http://gordongossip.blogspot.com/

How about a decadent red velvet cake in the shape of a heart to really say I love you! I know one way to my heart is through cake! ;o)  Source

And lastly, if you want an easy out... how about transforming plain toothpicks into adorable heart picks! You can find foam glitter hearts right now at any local craft store or even dollar store.  What a great way to do a little something special Valentine's morning without much work!
