See, doesn't all the bright colors make you smile?! I love the colored heart backdrop! When doing this theme, make sure to have a lot of solid spaces for your eyes to rest, whether it be white or one solid color.  Source

A fun centerpiece to make - balloons attached to a styrofoam ball! Source
For a fun drink touch... make these airhead rainbow straws! Save this idea for St Patty's too! Source and tutorial

Another "low skill" ;o)  item is taking candy dots and "glue" them with icing onto marshmallows! Add a lolli stick and stick into a fun display! Source and tutorial, lollisticks (here)

Rainbow party ideas/inspiration

brrrrr PEOPLE! I think it snowed just about everywhere yesterday! We got to test out the new snowblower - and let's just say I am sure my neighbor's have video of me on youtube ;o)  I was COVERED in snow! Let's just say snow blower + swirling winds = covered in snow ;o)  No sign of a rainbow any time soon... but I want to do a rainbow post anyway! so there!

don't forget about older (but still fresh!) Frosting for rainbow parties (in the pantry here)

We have all seen tissue paper poms... but have you seen them done this way?!? GENIUS! I love the the ribbons with photos hanging from them too! super cute! Source

Use yarn to create adorable detail to favors, risers for your dessert table, around napkins, table legs... you get the idea! Source: Book Spectrum Scraps, More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts, page 122 (found via tinywhitedaises)

Doesn't this make your mouth water?!? Super clever mamma made fantastic french toast topped with a "rainbow" of fruits! Stinking clever! Source (found via bedifferentactnormal blog)

Polka dots are predicted to be hot this year! Why not incorporate them with this theme?! Also, dip (anything really) pretzels into multi-colored chocolate and finish with some luster dust to give them extra character! (p.s. use GEL coloring in white chocolate melts, not reg food coloring, you'll ruin it!) Source

look close... NOT macaroons... cupcakes!!! I LOVE IT! You can even make these just from a box mix (woot!) just mix, separate, add food coloring and then bake.  Source and tutorial

Candy Party ideas/inspiration

Candy themes are always a good "go to" when you are not sure what to do... because what kid (or grownup) wouldn't love a room full of candy! What's your favorite candy? I'd have to go with reeces pieces yum!!!

Don't forget to peek at older (but still fresh!) Frosting tips for candy themes - here!

Over-stuff a table full of candy and watch how all the color just pops! Use baskets and stands to help create different height and dimension to your setup! Don't forget to give each kid a bag or basket to fill to take home! Source found via bellagrace partydesigns

Take each candy and figure out the best way to serve... these candy dots look amazing out of the package, stacked on top of each other - small effort, but great impact! Source

These lollis are the perfect garland! Just tied on a simple string and hung  -or you could drape around the table, etc.  Perfect for a rainbow themed party, as well! Source found via dognbird

Talk about a sweet tooth! No cake, just candy! Great alternative to doing a cake! Source

If you can't live without some cake, then how about these cupcakes?!? I LOVE the base dipped and covered in sprinkles! The two-toned icing makes it so much fun and of course, top them off with even more candy! Source

Rainbow party ideas/inspiration

Infusing color into any party is fun - and taking it all the way to rainbow is extra fun! (here is some older, but still fresh frosting for rainbows too!)

Adorable table setup for "good night moon" but I thought minus the cake - you have a great inspiration for a rainbow theme! What great use of color! The streamer background is such an inexpensive option and looks great! Doing a muted background really lets the color on the table shine! Source found via savethedateforcupcakes blog

Why not add a little ribbon and contrasting straw to each drink? You could even add a third color by rimming the glasses with sugar! yum! Source

Have you seen this one?  What a way to fill space! Rainbow paper used as hanging streamers - super fun! Source

Curly ribbon wreaths ROCK! Go wild with the colors! What a great way to welcome your guests too! Source found via everydaycelebrating blog

Who doesn't love a dipped oreo?!? So why not dip them in different colors and va-la! Instant rainbow of chocolate cookie heaven! Source

...and finally, add a little something to your rainbow on the inside cake by adding colored twizzlers to the outside! Slice a small little piece to create "flowers"... so clever! Source
