Monster party ideas and inspiration

Glad to report the baby has been doing much better on new formula and this mamma is starting to get some sleep (and sanity!) back! WOOT! I am finishing up planning our sip & see... what do you have planned for the summer?

If you have a monster themed party planned here is some inspiration! But don't forget about older, but still fresh!, Frosting for a monster theme here (link).

How fun is this tablecloth?! So often we forget to use the real estate on the front of the table cloth for more fun! Apply this idea to any theme with cutouts to coordinate! Source

I love this cake and the backdrop! I wanted to share the cake because if you break it down, you could apply this approach yourself even if you aren't a cake decorator! Keep each tier pretty simple - the fun is in the colors and add ons (which could even be plastic) (note:the chevron detail is NOT easy! but you could do sprinkles or anything with color instead).  Cookie cutters and purchased fondant (or homemade) can help you with the letters and number.  Source

For your party favors... turn this paddle ball games into crazy one-eyed monsters! (hint: you could do these green and make them for Monster's Inc party!)  Source

Party add on....

These monster finger puppets would make great favors! You could also glue them a top of box/containers.  Buy them here - link - $6.77 for 24!

Monster party ideas and inspiration

Today is one of those days I have had high aspirations to complete all kinds of things... and didn't heehee... We got our new coffee table and I am not happy with it - working to exchange so total bummer!  but the evening is still young and I still have 3 more days 'till my new job!

I leave you with some ideas to Frost your next Monster themed party.  Don't forget about older, but still fresh!, Frosting for Monster parties here.

How stinkin' cute is that monster wall mural!?! I love when I see walls being decorated with temporary items for a party! You could even cover a wall with kraft paper and let the kids make monsters - don't use heavy markers (bleed through!) Source

Another idea for the kids to create their own monsters - juice cartons and felt! Make a monster station with all the fixings and let the kids go wild! Felt sticks to itself so they can keep decorating over and over with no glue! Source and tutorial

Decorate the kids cups with monster eyes! Source and tutorial

If you have been shy to make cake balls... here's your chance to make them and be sloppy! These have to be the most fun cake balls I have ever seen! (you can buy the eyes at your local craft store in baking section or here) Source

Monsters

Sitting and waiting for yet ANOTHER snow storm, ugh! This is Delaware! we shouldn't have this much snow! Today's post will hopefully help inspire a cute little boy's party with the theme of Monsters...

This cute monster puppet inspired the post! It might be cost prohibitive to buy one for each kid but maybe just a few around for decoration and your child could keep them to play with afterward.  Source

These would make a great project for the kids to do! Paper bag puppets!  The come in a pack of 12 and the kids can just assemble! The one with his tongue sticking out is my favorite! Source:  www.birthdayinabox.com

Decorating little pails as monsters would be tons of fun, too! Source

Put out some marshmallows, chocolate in different colors and dyed coconut and let them make these adorable monsters!  I have a container of these candy eyes from my local craft store at Halloween time - I am sure you could find them online if needed.  Source

These semi-homemade guys are labeled as Valentine monsters, but I think they would work well at this party too! Made with those "snowball" snack cakes, cookies and licorice - these would be easy for mom or the kids to make! Source and directions

Lastly, these brain eating slug monsters would be great to serve as dessert! Kids love anything that grosses them out, that is for sure! Source
