Luau Party ideas and inspiration

It's very dreary here right now (though I am loving the cooler temps!) so let's dream about a Luau to bring the sun in! We'll dedicate this post to Fizzy Party - she luau's every year - go say happy bloggy anniversary to her!

Here are some ways to Frost your next Luau! but don't forget about older, but still fresh!, Frosting for a Luau here (link)

Don't shy away from color on this theme! Dress up drink display with colorful buckets, that you can reuse later, with signs and leis! Source

These seriously tickle me!!! Roasted pigs! (chocolate pigs on pretzels!) Source (buy pig mold here - link)

A great decor item - hallow out a pineapple (eat the insides!) and add a tealight! Source

And for dessert... look closely... they are cupcakes!!! How stinkin' clever?! Source and tutorial (buy cupcake mold here: link)

Tiki/Luau party ideas/inspiration

Not sure if you guys are having the same heat wave we are WHEW! We did manage to grill out yesterday - with two umbrellas to help beat the heat! lol.

...this heat has me thinking summer parties already! A good 'ol Luau is always a great go-to (shout out to Tiffany who LOVES a good Tiki/Luau!) ! Don't forget this older, but still fresh!, Frosting for a luau here (link)

Luaus make for such fun - you can be over-the-top and not have to excuse it! How cute is this setup?! I love the coconut shells! Source

A luau lets you be so free with color! These paper fans really pop! Make a palm tree out of stacked pineapples and silk leaves/flowers.  Source

Frost all your items! Add a fun Tiki face to your drink dispensers! Source

Using candies, string a fun (and edible) lei topped cupcake for your guests! Source and tutorial

Luau Theme

(as requested) A luau is always a great "go-to" theme for summer parties!

I love this table because it shows how a few well placed, simple pieces of palm and netting really help say "luau" without over doing it! You don't have to put a tiki and a lei on everything! Source

Create these fun topiaries with paper parasols to add a fun details! Source and tutorial

You have to have coconuts! How about doing a signature drink served in half coconuts! Source and recipe  You could pour candle wax in and make them into candles too!

Another simple touch - have a basket full of flip flops for your guests! Another basket with towels for wet activities and another basket of light blankets for the late evening would not only look great, but serve your guests well! Source

You know I am going to find a way to incorporate cupcakes! lol These hibiscus flower topped cupcakes are beautiful! Definitely time consuming, but try doing just a handful among plain ones - same wow factor and WAY less time! Source and tutorial
