Rainbow party ideas/inspiration

brrrrr PEOPLE! I think it snowed just about everywhere yesterday! We got to test out the new snowblower - and let's just say I am sure my neighbor's have video of me on youtube ;o)  I was COVERED in snow! Let's just say snow blower + swirling winds = covered in snow ;o)  No sign of a rainbow any time soon... but I want to do a rainbow post anyway! so there!

Polka dots are predicted to be hot this year! Why not incorporate them with this theme?! Also, dip (anything really) pretzels into multi-colored chocolate and finish with some luster dust to give them extra character! (p.s. use GEL coloring in white chocolate melts, not reg food coloring, you'll ruin it!) Source

Rainbow party ideas/inspiration

Infusing color into any party is fun - and taking it all the way to rainbow is extra fun! (here is some older, but still fresh frosting for rainbows too!)

Adorable table setup for "good night moon" but I thought minus the cake - you have a great inspiration for a rainbow theme! What great use of color! Why not add a little ribbon and contrasting straw to each drink? You could even add a third color by rimming the glasses with sugar! yum! Source

Purple party theme inspiration!

Use lavender and twine with with wire (available local craft stores) to create letters to hang above your party table! So adorable! Source

Soap is always a great favor! This lavender topped soap looks good enough to eat! And if you don't want to do as a favor, make sure you put some at the sinks in the house for your guests to use! Source

already on my to try list... homemade marshmallows! you can make them in any color but the lavender really is beautiful! My to do is coffee flavored - not the best flavor for purple, of course, but YUM! Source

Yellow theme party ideas!

It rained here today so here is a little sunshine!

I love parties of one color - you can really make an impact! A special thing they did here that I love is use black & white photos of the bday boy and added yellow mats to match! If you click to enlarge, you will see the middle pic is b&w except a yellow paper mustache! I love it! Source

I am also a strong advocate of decorating with fruit and veggies! Break out the lemons for this party! I love that there are lemons as the runner AND lemon trees surrounding! Source

Also look for ways to do just hints of your color theme.  Painting/decals/stickers on glass for your menu board would be such an unexpected detail! You can even write with a paint pen or dry erase and clean it off and use it again! Source

Don't forget to do matching desserts! Candy or these cake balls would be the perfect choice! I love the little yellow ribbons - great touch! Remember you can use all different shades of your color - it adds dimension and interest! Source

Jars full of matching candy with huge bows would leave any guest feeling happy! I love gifts that are functional and edible! best of both worlds! Source

Red themed party!

One of Keisha's favorite things is the color Red.... so I figured I'm a party girl, so let's plan a Red themed party!!!

You can plan a party around a color! When dealing with a bold color - like red - keep a neutral background, like white, to let the color shine! If desired, you can add another contrasting color, like turquoise, to play along!

As seen in this pic, Use clusters of red in different textures and objects all in the same family of red to really give a dramatic statement! Clustering always has more impact than putting one here and there throughout the space! Pic Source

For a low cost, beautiful option, think food! These cranberry centerpieces would be perfect for this theme! Also, think apples, radishes, beets, rhubarb, strawberries and cherries as decorations, not just food! Pic Source

Look for objects that are of different materials, textures and shades to support your color theme! Can't find the right items? Spray paint baby! Flea markets and second hand shops can be so successful if you look past condition and color and think, what can I paint/fix? Pic Source

Don't forget patterns!!! Look for textiles with a great bold pattern to draw in your color palette! It can be a tablecloth, napkin, photo backdrop, favor bags, etc.  Can't find the perfect pattern? Stencil or stamp! Pic Source

You have to serve great drinks! You can either do drinks in your party colors, or tie it in through rim sugar, fruit on skewers, drink umbrellas or straws/straw flags! So many choices! Pic Soure and recipes - drink 1, drink 2

You can't have a Red themed party without red velvet cake! Desserts are always a place to run WILD with your theme! Set up a whole dessert table with red cupcakes, red candies, cherry pie, etc.  Also tie in desserts with colored papers, ribbon, sprinkles, serving dishes, etc.  So if your favorite dessert isn't the right color, don't fret! Color Theme: Multi-colored

First... let me share it's been a TERRIBLE day dealing with STUPID people... then I came home and found $80 in a pair of jeans I haven't worn forever, hello!?!? Way to turn the day around!! Decided to do a color theme post today - Multi-colors. These would be great ideas to incorporate into multiple different themes, or just as a color theme... enjoy! These multi-colored placecard holders would work perfect as buffet card holders or a birthday sign holder, as well.  Source

These chocolate curl topped cupcakes are SUPER easy to make! Melt colored chocolate wafers and pour it on wax paper to create a thin layer.  When dry take a metal spatula and push it against it and the chocolate will curl up! or try a peeler (have to melt chocolate into a "block" first) Ta-da!
